The other artists had magnificent steampunk clocks. Truly beautiful work. So, being French, I took a different take on the theme and dressed my little girl in a French maid outfit. The quote says: “It’s time for love, honey…” There is a little cupid waiting with his arrow strung. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-lvnevgxiols/UXwFctj1zmI/AAAAAAAAD1s/KLezENQXvwc/s1600-h/CIMG7266%252520fb%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7266 fb" border="0" alt="CIMG7266 fb" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-A7vNoNoS154/UXwFdQN1NwI/AAAAAAAAD10/aXWZ-PykZfg/CIMG7266%252520fb_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="517" height="393" /></a></p> <p>For the back page, I made a digital collage of a dreamy lady, remembering days past in an old mansion. The quote says: “There’s always time for love, isn’t there?”</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ny4lFm_JYfM/UXwFeIRvNoI/AAAAAAAAD18/Q1iW09--jBE/s1600-h/CIMG7267fb%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7267fb" border="0" alt="CIMG7267fb" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-1QJmhnJxZQs/UXwFetyQa1I/AAAAAAAAD2E/_CLXz98bo0Y/CIMG7267fb_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="526" height="400" /></a></p> <p>This last one’s theme is “quotes”. Just that day, I found this great quote on Deviant Scrap:</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-kuUSN13wxwc/UXwFfc3VGcI/AAAAAAAAD2M/3WrWMwdNAjU/s1600-h/31%252520a%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="31 a" border="0" alt="31 a" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-wvStnujrEkU/UXwFfixM7dI/AAAAAAAAD2U/w7J15w7RLA4/31%252520a_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="448" height="108" /></a></p> <p>I made another one of my ladies with the big head piece. Her theme is John Waterhouse’s heroines. Here are the front and back covers of the spread. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y3fPSkCEMcQ/UXv_dJ8ZnMI/AAAAAAAADy4/bEMeCXnXJgg/s1600-h/CIMG7288%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7288" border="0" alt="CIMG7288" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-2m3IAYAD8l4/UXv_d_OGNZI/AAAAAAAADzA/QxIyLuzZDBs/CIMG7288_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="322" height="432" /></a></p> <p align="center">By pure coincidence I used a large piece of lace on the left side of the page, that perfectly matches the lace Karen used for the last page of her book. It will look like it was meant to be. Which of course, it was… </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-mBLTEu_scfA/UXv_eih8a3I/AAAAAAAADzI/CStxIKlHxZ4/s1600-h/CIMG7289%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7289" border="0" alt="CIMG7289" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-kHlJOMGZAMo/UXv_fKkciEI/AAAAAAAADzQ/_rEE7WMdkG0/CIMG7289_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="316" height="423" /></a></p> <p align="center">This is the inside left page, showing Courtly Love.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ZNaUyenN3uM/UXv_f_riaHI/AAAAAAAADzY/QumXasUDUJA/s1600-h/CIMG7290%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7290" border="0" alt="CIMG7290" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-lTrY5dHARBE/UXv_goct1hI/AAAAAAAADzg/5u_5Jo_7Gzo/CIMG7290_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="319" height="428" /></a></p> <p>The right page is built around an image of a young lady kneeling in front of her knight in shining armor. The two pages are built on top of a beautiful piece of dyed lace, which has completely disappeared under all the embellishments. l-))</p> <p>On the right page are several layers of doilies, with some chiffon to frame the image, and some guipure lace. The top trim is metal hearts and under the purple velvet is upholstery trim. </p> <p>I never realized how very dark Waterhouse images are. It was a challenge to keep the page light. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-mPwjQ8CB4k4/UXv_hbmfCPI/AAAAAAAADzo/JTrShdBDeoE/s1600-h/CIMG7291a%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7291a" border="0" alt="CIMG7291a" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-AuOfApPJYek/UXv_hyDdPqI/AAAAAAAADzw/wMID-MkE32U/CIMG7291a_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="338" height="455" /></a></p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">I added a vintage brooch that I had in my collection, with beautiful stones that echo the colors on the page. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-O6LfJuTo0ME/UXv_iW1r5pI/AAAAAAAADz4/T7R-ZKgXOOo/s1600-h/CIMG7291%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7291" border="0" alt="CIMG7291" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Hw_AClGCpjU/UXv_iwa9E2I/AAAAAAAAD0A/aJPKQopDzl8/CIMG7291_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="323" height="343" /></a></p> <p align="center">It seems I haven’t posted the previous pages I had done for Teri in NYC. So here they are. Her theme is Horses and Armors. </p> <p align="center">On the left page, I used a picture of a horse that actually comes from a carousel. I loved the colors. I tracked down, with a lot of help from my friend Deb who is also in this RR, a horse blanket pin. Then I aged it. </p> <p align="center">On the right, I printed some horse equipment terms in French, like Haslebarde, Bride (which is the bridle), Henaut, the helmet, Joult, (Joust), Harnais, (harness), Destrier (a form of horse) Cheval (horse) and Palefroi (a farm horse)</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-QuEG_nWTfVw/UXv_kIPo2PI/AAAAAAAAD0I/vjd9Qy81X7w/s1600-h/CIMG7037%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7037" border="0" alt="CIMG7037" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-q5LvAjpIyc0/UXv_k3YnHOI/AAAAAAAAD0Q/ySsjImtJRjg/CIMG7037_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="649" height="495" /></a></p> <p align="center">For the right page, I used a reporduction of the Black Prince riding armor. It was such a beautiful image. I used a belt which I had cut up and painted, to look like a bridle. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-6eLf1q_uaCE/UXv_l_BZRWI/AAAAAAAAD0Y/rMOiZIbyfHk/s1600-h/CIMG7038%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7038" border="0" alt="CIMG7038" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-b3EpXIZqj2M/UXv_mrgH3qI/AAAAAAAAD0g/7LPmGe1eP78/CIMG7038_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="680" height="517" /></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-7FYvUhVPVlg/UXv_nfkVVMI/AAAAAAAAD0o/8PdhfBN-i1Y/s1600-h/CIMG7039%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7039" border="0" alt="CIMG7039" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-SFGxZcBvu9A/UXv_oKUAWlI/AAAAAAAAD0w/KHbqxwLoHq4/CIMG7039_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="817" height="393" /></a></p> <p> </p> <p>I have to admit, it is quite a superb round robin that we’re having, and the books are really turning magnificent. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful group of talented artists. </p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-13800874275309589662013-04-10T10:27:00.001-07:002013-04-10T10:27:54.128-07:00Fabric lace pages<p>What do you do in Palm Springs when there is a huge sand storm?</p> <p>Yeah, closing the windows would be an option. I’ll be sure to do that next time… Duh!</p> <p align="left">Next, unless you want to sand blast the paint on your car, you stay home and you make fabric lace pages. I did have much fun. They turned out soooo romantic. They are based on heavy upholstery fabric, and there is a little hanger at the back. Or they can be used as the basis for a book or journal cover. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">The images are printed on fabric, and surrounded with gorgeous laces from my vintage collection, a few vintage buttons, and some paper and fabric flowers. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-MbBsbotlvzI/UWWg0WDWOmI/AAAAAAAADvk/la_icSORpjU/s1600-h/CIMG7272%252520d%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; Gotta love it. I also added a crown and the letter “E” for Elena, because she’s our queen friend, who organizes lots of wonderful Round Robins. </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-QWMTJTv_bQY/UVhTgCTVH8I/AAAAAAAADuA/d8cvDToIhJU/s1600-h/CIMG7218%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7218" border="0" alt="CIMG7218" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-EnKzUAnMTCc/UVhTghN_wDI/AAAAAAAADuI/U6rrVcsOUdY/CIMG7218_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="343" height="460" /></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-PTSqtNjk11s/UVhThMMReJI/AAAAAAAADuQ/COmdeRUIq10/s1600-h/CIMG7219%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7219" border="0" alt="CIMG7219" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-2KogCqk0t_M/UVhThnZx-GI/AAAAAAAADuY/bY7O699exi8/CIMG7219_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="338" height="453" /></a></p> <p>Her book cover was mainly black and white, so I followed the theme. </p> <p>On the left page, I printed images of Paris on fabric, and decorated them with a beautiful white flower from Beads and Buttons in Portland, and a sweet little white bird inside of a black rose. For the background, I used this wonderful black and white Paris map fabric that I had. It all got covered with tons of lace, of course. </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-CZr2FfEkaig/UVhTiYkEy-I/AAAAAAAADug/TOEH2dhqbNQ/s1600-h/CIMG7220%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7220" border="0" alt="CIMG7220" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-UvN73onRXBY/UVhTjCe6QHI/AAAAAAAADuo/XRWIijhxVBY/CIMG7220_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="435" height="583" /></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qrw5_RsOYNY/UVhTj6PMkfI/AAAAAAAADuw/db0h1RWHyKw/s1600-h/CIMG7220%252520white%252520bird%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7220 white bird" border="0" alt="CIMG7220 white bird" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-WT1mpQhR2lo/UVhTke_ltpI/AAAAAAAADu0/1RC8I81BjXM/CIMG7220%252520white%252520bird_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="449" height="258" /></a></p> <p>For the right page, I had this wonderful furry and feathery black nest with precious stones in it. It guided the design for the rest of the page. I used a large piece of lace that covers both pages. It has these large white flowers on it, which seemed to continue the theme. </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-tncC1OFIDVo/UVhTk7cgYSI/AAAAAAAADvA/vWH-N9gAPns/s1600-h/CIMG7221%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7221" border="0" alt="CIMG7221" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-22seupW8by8/UVhTlWxZALI/AAAAAAAADvI/5sjhh6iQ5Qw/CIMG7221_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="387" height="519" /></a></p> <p>Here is a view of both pages together. I trimmed the top of the page with black and white gingham, very French. The bottoms silver and black trim comes from the collar of a jacket a girlfriend just gave me. It comes from Italy, and has tons of silver beads. Not easy to wear outside of Italy, even if you live in Palm Springs! It was perfect to finish the pages. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-eTEx0z58YQM/UVhTmWv63sI/AAAAAAAADvQ/MRG7Mg9y6bE/s1600-h/CIMG7222%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7222" border="0" alt="CIMG7222" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-jIProb9D1ss/UVhTm-6veUI/AAAAAAAADvY/Jz20nVxnzyc/CIMG7222_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="694" height="530" /></a></p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-7254568475336359732013-03-22T10:49:00.001-07:002013-03-22T10:49:01.288-07:00A new website<p>After thinking long and hard about it, I’ve decided to pull my jewelry from Etsy and post it on a dedicated website. </p> <p>Why?</p> <p>Etsy is a great site for artists and to post our work for sale, but it has a big disadvantage: it doesn’t allow the artist to set up categories, so your work gets all mixed together, if you, like me, happen to have various fields of work. </p> <p>I will be holding a huge sale on my jewelry before it goes from Etsy. 20% all the jewelry. That’s a pretty good deal. </p> <p>So if my dear followers have noticed I’ve been MIA (at least one did, yeah, thank you Liz), it’s because I’ve been nose down designing my own website. It’s almost live. Waiting for the server to access the new name, and I will release it all: the new name, the sale on Etsy, everything.</p> <p>Here is a preview of what it MAY look like. <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-1nSmnWLb5Xo/UUyZiAhkK1I/AAAAAAAADtg/y2rCHIWEdps/s1600-h/preview%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="preview" border="0" alt="preview" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-nwAYPt8lPmk/UUyZin9KXGI/AAAAAAAADto/sJV-vsVzKSE/preview_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="461" height="370" /></a></p> <p>The software is a big learning curve, but the biggest time consumer is to get very clear and detailed photos, which of course is one would want when looking at jewelry. </p> <p>Thank you for the feedback that you like the pictures better on a black background. I agree. So I’m converting all my pics to black. Another item on the list. <img style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" alt="Smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Tp_31HclL_4/UUyZi71oZpI/AAAAAAAADtw/LrJzr2m_Fcg/wlEmoticon-smile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" /></p> <p>Oh, and I will give away one of my bracelets when I launch the website to someone who leaves a comment. That’s something you really don’t want to miss. Stay tuned.</p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-58553273265639271462013-03-13T10:06:00.001-07:002013-03-13T10:07:15.003-07:00I’ve seen the light!<p>No, I havent’ found religion. Bu I have taken a class to learn how to photograph my jewelry properly. And oh, what a difference. And most of it has to do with the light! Duh!</p> <p>I haven’t even bought a fancy light set up, I’m using the wonderful natural light in my house here in Palm Springs! Yeah, another bonus of living here, this wonderful light makes for wonderful photos. </p> <p>Nest, I need to unearth  my tripod, for which I haven’t had much use in the recent months. But it’s here somewhere, and it will help getting even more crisp photos. </p> <p>In the meantime,  you be the judge. My jewelry has never looked so good on the screen! With a bit of light adjustment in Photoshop and voila. I’m posting Before and After photos, those are always fun!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-X6nZPYO6T5U/UUCx9UvY8sI/AAAAAAAADrU/1y9tcODMRHw/s1600-h/CIMG7063%252520fb%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7063 fb" border="0" alt="CIMG7063 fb" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-vhpszQYIMGs/UUCx94CWdxI/AAAAAAAADrc/ssXHjJpSoks/CIMG7063%252520fb_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="296" height="228" /></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-9hbmGkc_Trs/UUCx-u6-TaI/AAAAAAAADrk/sn6i7PyKZR8/s1600-h/CIMG7072psp%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7072psp" border="0" alt="CIMG7072psp" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-T7fTnF3x3us/UUCx_bYLrBI/AAAAAAAADrs/e6RcmvOqVSY/CIMG7072psp_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="463" height="354" /></a></p> <p>Wow, what a difference! I really love the colors on this bracelet, and I just couldn’t capture them before. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-HI6_BkgQBq0/UUCyANqYoCI/AAAAAAAADr0/8N4jczAuDzk/s1600-h/CIMG7004%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7004" border="0" alt="CIMG7004" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-4S7kGfBTDNQ/UUCyAibrE5I/AAAAAAAADr8/r_uBX5Mi8xA/CIMG7004_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="256" height="343" /></a></p> <p> </p> <p>I do like the black background. <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-bBDykY8i2ac/UUCyBMNQPEI/AAAAAAAADsE/Xi0YVA1NeVA/s1600-h/CIMG7068%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7068" border="0" alt="CIMG7068" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-3DVSxLhg9uw/UUCyBs0va7I/AAAAAAAADsM/IgClbEQ1ABQ/CIMG7068_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="327" height="440" /></a></p> <p>But look at these colors. It’s a beaded embroidery cuff, with a gorgeous blue agate in the middle, seed beads, lochrosen, silver beads and pearls. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-0Q9pGdknbnw/UUCyCSvLbdI/AAAAAAAADsU/slnxuBjfU7c/s1600-h/CIMG7069%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7069" border="0" alt="CIMG7069" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-SpLMimSPw04/UUCyC6VKxfI/AAAAAAAADsc/IwLoLUg8J5Y/CIMG7069_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="319" height="428" /></a></p> <p>Now doesn’t this make your mouth water? Yes, it takes thousands of beads to make one bracelet. It takes me about 3 full days to complete one. </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-woDDDaOMMQc/UUCyDszA6LI/AAAAAAAADsk/icDt9DJmIXY/s1600-h/CIMG7070%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7070" border="0" alt="CIMG7070" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-sDM7C38RNr4/UUCyEDfHhfI/AAAAAAAADss/kFd6FurIPMs/CIMG7070_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="313" height="422" /></a></p> <p>And the latest bead free form peyote. In this type of design, there is no support for the beading, one just weaves and adds at the fancy decides. </p> <p>I was in the mood for another chromatic design, in the view of Goth or Steampunk. This necklace is beaded with Toho Treasures. They’re called Treasures because of how much they cost, I think. They are the flatter square looking beads. I used a simple black velvet button for the closure. There are black pearls, black Swaroski crystals, some bugles beads of various sizes. It is quite spectacular on. </p> <p>It would have been so difficult to photograph properly, you can imagine, black on black, without this new instruction. Yeah, Jim Lawson. Great course. </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-wfEJiuYJVTo/UUCyEnBlZHI/AAAAAAAADs0/a_dyaWUTulo/s1600-h/CIMG7067psp%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG7067psp" border="0" alt="CIMG7067psp" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-r0nAygsr0f8/UUCyFDZfwpI/AAAAAAAADs8/QFCpwnBQW2Q/CIMG7067psp_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="511" /></a></p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-14031807794325941652013-03-04T14:38:00.001-08:002013-03-04T15:46:34.619-08:00Peyote beaded braceletIn this new bracelet, I’m exploring a new stitch, called flat peyote. I’ve added metal copper beads on the edge to give it a ruffled look, which I like a lot. This is not bead embroidery for a change, but rather bead weaving. <br />
To make it more steampunk, I put a clock face in the middle but I feel it really needs more. I’m thinking of adding pearls inside the clock face, or maybe around it. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-KXfzskVoPRU/UTUiYZrRCdI/AAAAAAAADp8/CgkGD-THhsY/s1600-h/CIMG7019%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CIMG7019" border="0" height="371" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-GeKuu2eGYpU/UTUiZSgRhII/AAAAAAAADqE/dTfZCwW47VM/CIMG7019_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="CIMG7019" width="488" /></a><br />
Here is a close up of the watch face, and the ruffled edge with the metal beads. <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-GUDdtBmEYME/UTUiaUtHwSI/AAAAAAAADqM/VopKWw06oOk/s1600-h/CIMG7019%252520centre%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CIMG7019 centre" border="0" height="356" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/--JPAM-lkBQk/UTUibGZEVsI/AAAAAAAADqU/e2XRRdHGw50/CIMG7019%252520centre_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="CIMG7019 centre" width="468" /></a><br />
I made another cuff in woven beads and peyote stitch, in green and shimmering glass beads. The edges are ruffled too, because I used beads that were slightly larger than the base one. They are so fun to make. Because of its colors, I call this one Sea foam” <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-fUz0UBv7Mm8/UTUicDvQh-I/AAAAAAAADqc/B5vxTqrNUxw/s1600-h/CIMG7022%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CIMG7022" border="0" height="366" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Vo9uMXW-TbM/UTUic2N4xoI/AAAAAAAADqk/wtoXeRbnsqU/CIMG7022_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="CIMG7022" width="482" /></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-UdE2D3j6RAM/UTUidx_qE9I/AAAAAAAADqs/o3TXVBHf518/s1600-h/CIMG7023%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CIMG7023" border="0" height="357" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-TXEzxv2b5LI/UTUieuGFbPI/AAAAAAAADq0/6nXNwWiKZfo/CIMG7023_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="CIMG7023" width="470" /></a><br />
I’m also working on a large neck piece, back to bead embroidery. I think that remains my main love. I’m combining a lot of my favorite colors, as well as new beads I bought at the Tucson bead show. And of course, watch faces here too. Can you notice a theme? Steampunk!!!!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-pZnqznEl3M0/UTUifma2_CI/AAAAAAAADq8/UYr5BcyqZts/s1600-h/CIMG7025%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CIMG7025" border="0" height="624" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ZGRNyxbVTyQ/UTUigUFz4VI/AAAAAAAADrE/B1-aQWCeKG4/CIMG7025_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-color: -moz-use-text-color; border-style: none; border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="CIMG7025" width="463" /> </a><br />
I used a large black agate for the cabochon, which I captured with a peyote stitch. I did the same with the large clock face and the steampunk metal button. For the rest, I'm using 15/0 seed beads, and small black bugles. It does take a long time to cover all this space with 15/0!!! Sorta crept up on me. Still, it’s the 28th, and the day to announce the winner of the blog giveaway. <br />
This is so fun! This little lovely will go to a new home today!<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-sYdZHc7caPY/US-6wg0qqZI/AAAAAAAADjo/dp2Qjx18wfI/s1600-h/IMG_1010%252520resize%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_1010 resize" border="0" height="362" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-QeqwJWoaUsY/US-6xM6MY7I/AAAAAAAADjw/bsy1tGSHwYY/IMG_1010%252520resize_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_1010 resize" width="241" /></a><br />
I also wanted to tell you about the new lace purses I’ve been making. Now these could be a serious addiction…<br />
This one has already found a new home, and just went on a cruise. There's something missing in that picture: oh, yeah, it's me, I"m not on that cruise. :-(( <br />

This one is a small canvas bag with a zipper. I have used doilies and two pieces of very old from my collection. I’ve added a pearl necklace for that little something extra:<br />

This next one is larger, built on a base of cream man-made leather. You can see the detail of colored ribbon binding, with a small chain and a key. <br />

It has a large flap, and you can see the laces under the flap, with a few vintage buttons. <br />

The little white one is the very first one I ever made. I was really happy with how it came out, obviously, so I made a few more…<br />

But hey, enough talk about purses. Let’s talk about a winner. <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-LjbtmQupQRU/US-7ODCLzeI/AAAAAAAADo4/LJKfO-Of1gw/s1600-h/IMG_1010%252520resize%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_1010 resize" border="0" height="352" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-FVnUmrQHPY0/US-7OtWVT8I/AAAAAAAADpA/OjhZibkMq6Q/IMG_1010%252520resize_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_1010 resize" width="234" /></a><br />

And the winner is….<br />
drum roll…<br />

Her theme is Vintage Shabby Chic. Here’s what I did:</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-MnyR25jX7MA/USz7VqlgQhI/AAAAAAAADgI/ftdmtBqXwgM/s1600-h/for%252520gloria%25255B14%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="for gloria" border="0" alt="for gloria" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-gBoY7hLgNco/USz7WEU-6RI/AAAAAAAADgQ/k9AiyfO1aLE/for%252520gloria_thumb%25255B11%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="544" height="355" /></a></p> <p>The girl is actually 3D, and each butterfly is highlighted with clear embossing powder. </p> <p>I grunged and aged the page too.</p> <p> </p> <p>Next is Eileen’s lace book in the Vintage Round Robin. Her theme is Vintage Accessories. Her book already had gloves, glasses, so much good stuff, but… it was really missing a boa. And everyone knows life goes better with a boa. Here’s the front cover:<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-hBv7McTD2D0/USz7WzfOVAI/AAAAAAAADgY/qyiEEmYeg88/s1600-h/CIMG6996%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6996" border="0" alt="CIMG6996" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-vQCaQOtVX50/USz7XcG0GeI/AAAAAAAADgg/iYFjujtMMtg/CIMG6996_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="386" height="411" /></a></p> <p>The left page has a red rose, and lots of lace.</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-N7h_PAjiXNE/USz7Yd-X8tI/AAAAAAAADgo/X2RwZWKNnoI/s1600-h/CIMG6992%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6992" border="0" alt="CIMG6992" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-RNo0WnGzc34/USz7Y42YrFI/AAAAAAAADgw/uaEO1QVIWQU/CIMG6992_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="383" height="413" /></a></p> <p>The right page is the lady with her boa and her jewelry, checking herself in the mirror. Soooo romantic!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nPDWynVPdsc/USz7Z3NqgwI/AAAAAAAADg4/feirVnik4wE/s1600-h/CIMG6994%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6994" border="0" alt="CIMG6994" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qyijOFaVkAw/USz7aZv6rwI/AAAAAAAADhA/X8blRgNbPTo/CIMG6994_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="450" height="452" /></a></p> <p> </p> <p> <br />And finally, the last Round Robin that left yesterday is the Medieval Lace Book. I had Liz’s journal: Medieval Gardens.ON the left page, I embroidered a medieval design from BeadsEast, on a background of faded pink velvet. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-lDBHy5-705w/USz7bGP7JcI/AAAAAAAADhI/W-mi3amv1HU/s1600-h/CIMG6944%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6944" border="0" alt="CIMG6944" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-8tT7mg9NNl4/USz7bbqvWOI/AAAAAAAADhQ/VNgQMVuUJ8A/CIMG6944_thumb%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="378" height="438" /></a></p> <p>On the right page is a picture of one of the last Medieval gardens in France, Chateau de Villandry. It happens to be 10 miles from my home town, so I know it quite well. Liz loves rust, orange and green colors. All fall colors. So I added some chestnuts, and some flowers in that color range. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4BpbPMe3Ml0/USz7cBN3ckI/AAAAAAAADhY/ytQUHBgf9vQ/s1600-h/CIMG6945%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6945" border="0" alt="CIMG6945" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-AqIDb9xlBZE/USz7cuVOrjI/AAAAAAAADhg/CBlk9s0Gjcc/CIMG6945_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="361" height="484" /></a></p> <p>The outside cover is striped velvet that I decorated with machine stitches in all sorts of colors, as well as ribbons and flowers. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-AtxQ7-V24qA/USz7dDFIuuI/AAAAAAAADho/EsOTDV2fWMQ/s1600-h/CIMG6946%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6946" border="0" alt="CIMG6946" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-asnonLsCdjM/USz7d30F9jI/AAAAAAAADhw/_3BaDfThZQY/CIMG6946_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="351" height="471" /></a></p> <p>And of course, the latest bracelet, because I wouldn’t want you to think I’ve stopped beading… This one is headed to my hairdresser’s salon. Because in Palm Springs, there is  a market for such a masculine cuff. Now to find a rock star…</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-HN2DemoGNtQ/US0hI0jnNyI/AAAAAAAADio/15C9PwMM1bI/s1600-h/IMG_0944%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_0944" border="0" alt="IMG_0944" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Xrkajt2m8Cs/US0hJWQEX_I/AAAAAAAADiw/E66eX6GlfvM/IMG_0944_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="470" height="319" /></a></p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-9160898861871378122013-02-21T16:08:00.001-08:002013-02-21T16:10:49.282-08:00Recognition and exposure<p align="center">One painting in a new series I painted early in the year is being featured in a Treasury on <a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MzA2OTkxMTh8MjcyMTQ0MTA4OQ/recipe-for-good-painting?ref=af_you_tre" target="_blank">Etsy</a>. Now there are many ways to create a beautiful page, and you will add your own touch to your creations. This is just the way I do it. Here is the finished page we will be making: <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-lNYhg8fOeKQ/USPJ_EKDeFI/AAAAAAAADWw/r65cQNC7K-A/s1600-h/IMG_0898%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0898" border="0" height="532" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-pvkF9IrwLAk/USPJ_u3ywFI/AAAAAAAADW4/o_ZP9V2Eqe4/IMG_0898_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0898" width="351" /></a><br />
<div align="center">
Start with a piece of heavy fabric, such as upholstery or canvas as your support page. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-2hfvAaW13_0/USPKAJad8oI/AAAAAAAADXA/uFv6yiTlKUA/s1600-h/IMG_0849%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0849" border="0" height="369" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-dwwnlu8lbKY/USPKA9rafeI/AAAAAAAADXI/qgtLkJ60ZkI/IMG_0849_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0849" width="245" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
Next, position a piece of lighter fabric which will serve as a background for your image. It’s most likely it will disappear after you’re finished with all the embellishments. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-4P96CwZ_wog/USPKBgvHboI/AAAAAAAADXQ/iOfQan5nCJI/s1600-h/IMG_0851%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0851" border="0" height="432" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-NJcnygAPkUc/USPKCLUPVSI/AAAAAAAADXY/ENhAvY-xjyw/IMG_0851_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0851" width="287" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
Check the size and position of your image, which you have already printed on fabric. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6q3BW7XjiIc/USPKCsDjO2I/AAAAAAAADXg/qN4fbFUX5yI/s1600-h/IMG_0852%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0852" border="0" height="511" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-T9pgnHSWJSo/USPKDCimlcI/AAAAAAAADXo/rwU_tduR3ak/IMG_0852_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0852" width="337" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I like to use scrim, or cheesecloth. You can age it in coffee or tea, or leave it natural. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-iuDgh1PfVWw/USPKEKpZy2I/AAAAAAAADXw/CNEqsDa0axc/s1600-h/IMG_0853%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0853" border="0" height="493" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ATvNx48nWNA/USPKEarPd4I/AAAAAAAADX4/AZg_8hJ7wBM/IMG_0853_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0853" width="326" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
Next, I add a doilie from my collection. I put it in the back of the fabric background, behind the image and scrim. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-yhMVQP3cDO0/USPKFD_rQNI/AAAAAAAADYA/SSNVD2O4adc/s1600-h/IMG_0854%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0854" border="0" height="322" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-YGqHE7j2ShQ/USPKFucaRqI/AAAAAAAADYI/2YsFZY10qjc/IMG_0854_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0854" width="214" /></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-92opL4blFCs/USPKGQRrTmI/AAAAAAAADYQ/BPSvz6h-29I/s1600-h/IMG_0855%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0855" border="0" height="322" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-GefR9JO_Mg8/USPKG3GHdyI/AAAAAAAADYY/7uI2gdCEOLM/IMG_0855_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0855" width="214" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
At this stage, some would probably want to start sewing. I start testing the embellishments I might use, so I can sew more pieces at once. I let the colors from the image guide me in my choice of fabrics and flowers. Here, I’ve added a fabric flower, a piece of velvet fabric from an old scarf, and a piece of letters on fabric. I have a soft spot for any script on fabric. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-6vRqB_2OZfk/USPKHu4RCRI/AAAAAAAADYg/e5Mvfzjfaio/s1600-h/IMG_0856%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0856" border="0" height="408" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-J68lxdqQA7o/USPKIFMQkWI/AAAAAAAADYo/AfcSynsKGsk/IMG_0856_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0856" width="271" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I’ve decided to add another piece of lace at the bottom. It’s actually a linen handkerchief that was lined with lace. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-WSFq5pXb71o/USPKJENYnmI/AAAAAAAADYw/qepIadf3fiY/s1600-h/IMG_0857%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0857" border="0" height="384" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-LmwANA2GE_0/USPKJYy1HOI/AAAAAAAADY4/ppl5PyAmGVI/IMG_0857_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0857" width="255" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I’ve added a bit of khaky lace on the left, gifted by beautiful lady <a href="http://suziqusthreadworks.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Suzy Quaife</a>. I have a soft spot for that lace. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-iUlSE3tXaLM/USPKKHW8fFI/AAAAAAAADZA/tryAvuMEWHA/s1600-h/IMG_0859%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0859" border="0" height="501" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-LcKFJXKQ28M/USPKKqyzm3I/AAAAAAAADZI/tlpmUJJMqNc/IMG_0859_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0859" width="333" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I like to frame the bottom of the image with a piece of lace and a bit of decoration. It keeps the eye traveling within the picture.</div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-_AS02j5tYrc/USPKLjuSWcI/AAAAAAAADZQ/ICj5jfFCBEs/s1600-h/IMG_0860%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0860" border="0" height="275" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-UWyXvd1QQys/USPKMJxQrDI/AAAAAAAADZY/GWmSrt69K_E/IMG_0860_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0860" width="406" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
Following that same reason, I cut a piece of doilie and add it to the right side of the image. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/--OjaSzLmbW8/USPKM4DVVxI/AAAAAAAADZg/6__ngwzSOxw/s1600-h/IMG_0863%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0863" border="0" height="382" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-aisxt_77QrM/USPKNWhR_VI/AAAAAAAADZo/Ok2wqEvvZFs/IMG_0863_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0863" width="254" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
Here’s what the image looks like:</div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-XBk58lK65rk/USPKNxZEHhI/AAAAAAAADZw/1RElBmrFCnU/s1600-h/IMG_0864%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0864" border="0" height="374" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-r0PjqMl1TX8/USPKOWZbumI/AAAAAAAADZ4/7mesDm-GKqM/IMG_0864_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0864" width="247" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I’ve added another piece of doilie at the bottom, because… more is better, right? Then it’s off to the sewing machine to capture all the pieces together. I like to use a contrasting thread, but using a matching color would work beautifully too. I sew around the image, then I sew around the background fabric. That way, most of the laces and doilies are captured at once. I tend to add some stitches on the bottom lace, just to be sure that everything is tacked down. </div>

<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-yhOjjDRyOjo/USPKPE-XFoI/AAAAAAAADaA/CW5DaA5WwRQ/s1600-h/IMG_0874%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0874" border="0" height="396" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-vSMLMLcVRt0/USPKPe0r_nI/AAAAAAAADaI/GbxGFXff8Uo/IMG_0874_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0874" width="263" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
Now, I go to my stash of embellishments, starting with the buttons. </div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-UNHU4ZfcDEo/USPKQVcJ61I/AAAAAAAADaQ/faaRF_jUDHw/s1600-h/IMG_0870%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0870" border="0" height="307" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Z90UxVMcwlI/USPKQ1a_YRI/AAAAAAAADaY/FIsUNz4Nn7s/IMG_0870_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0870" width="453" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
I admit to glueing the buttons down, and some of the embellishments. Sewing them on would probably be more ‘proper’. A trick to keep your ever fabulous and wonderful Aileene’s Tacky Glue flowing: store it upside down in a bottle or, as I do, because I’m French, in a champagne glass. A French woman should always have champagne around. Or at least a glass of champagne… </div>
<div align="center">
I like to use Tacky Glue because it dries rather fast, and it dries clear. And in my experience, it really holds lots of heavy embellishments. Hard worker, that glue. </div>

Notice how the hands form a heart? HER hands, which she traced and reduced on the computer before cutting in fabric. And do you see all the details, the tiny little red buttons, and the rhinestones? Love!</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-2nLTR4YC8u0/UR6Q9AdxxLI/AAAAAAAADS8/a_mNe2iKxV4/s1600-h/IMG_0946%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_0946" border="0" alt="IMG_0946" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-iMc22q1JDdY/UR6Q9zRGxQI/AAAAAAAADTE/5WSHj82CnfU/IMG_0946_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="387" height="583" /></a></p> <p>I have also exchanged a fabric collage with my new friend in the UK, Alison. She sent me this wonderful vintage page. And the tag!!! Notice the tag!?!?!?!? All that hand embroidery is just exquisite. I did suggest she considers using some of that beautiful stitching in her collages, it’s so beautiful, and something that most of us don’t do or won’t do anymore.</p> <p>  <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hi3OKMU0SS0/UR6Q-9OXacI/AAAAAAAADTM/qF6xqyDM5eA/s1600-h/IMG_0949%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_0949" border="0" alt="IMG_0949" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-jQh0237TvwA/UR6Q_du7TgI/AAAAAAAADTU/i-aO4mZhyyk/IMG_0949_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="315" height="474" /></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-WNM7s80YxJE/UR6RANrWuKI/AAAAAAAADTc/daz9l9KmMww/s1600-h/IMG_0950%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_0950" border="0" alt="IMG_0950" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-e9QplT7M_7A/UR6RAoOzbJI/AAAAAAAADTk/rz5nibKzdo4/IMG_0950_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="304" height="458" /></a></p> <p>Here is the one I sent Alison. I had just finished a batch of dyeing, and I had this deed wine color. An acquired taste, but Alison has received it and she likes it:</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-t1zotdCoTiA/UR6RBUu52uI/AAAAAAAADTs/65RtgGqNBwE/s1600-h/CIMG6905%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6905" border="0" alt="CIMG6905" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-K7kTrfP0Tjc/UR6RCBgp90I/AAAAAAAADT0/84sJEjyNyLA/CIMG6905_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="346" height="464" /></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-XWvJ2WZ8Gy8/UR6RDIs8xvI/AAAAAAAADT8/ek9ZBMC5bVg/s1600-h/CIMG6902%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6902" border="0" alt="CIMG6902" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-2P8hDqhlEC4/UR6RDrs1DQI/AAAAAAAADUE/Dc_5wNh7YmQ/CIMG6902_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="346" height="464" /></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-5F9Bp9ypUVQ/UR6RFDVU-JI/AAAAAAAADUM/268oEW9jH0s/s1600-h/CIMG6903%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6903" border="0" alt="CIMG6903" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-2-dKweGkJPA/UR6RFngkDuI/AAAAAAAADUU/3PsX0ua6Oq8/CIMG6903_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="550" height="418" /></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-MhL3kicRcoQ/UR6RGbt71SI/AAAAAAAADUc/6CsVyDkNleY/s1600-h/CIMG6904%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6904" border="0" alt="CIMG6904" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-eYcWnGx40Co/UR6RGy8ln2I/AAAAAAAADUk/zw_0NcmnfKA/CIMG6904_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="398" height="534" /></a></p> <p> </p> <p>Beautiful Suzy in Australia sent this beautiful fabric ‘card’. This one is 16x20, on stretched canvas.  It was done earlier and didn’t seem to have made it to the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/123709337/water-reflection-acrylic-painting-16x20?ref=v1_other_1" target="_blank">Etsy site</a>, so here it is. I exhibited it in a show in Vancouver. It was quite popular and got rave reviews, but I ended up selling a much larger one. I used alcohol inks on a canvas base. <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-w88FTLra_wg/UR6RPONn-vI/AAAAAAAADV8/9kVP9OD6iJ4/s1600-h/IMG_0947%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_0947" border="0" alt="IMG_0947" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ez7PEoy4Tec/UR6RPqlE9rI/AAAAAAAADWE/6JDoNngOIQM/IMG_0947_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="466" height="602" /></a></p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-23679744549321974742013-02-10T09:31:00.001-08:002013-02-10T09:31:48.546-08:00Tucson Bead Show and a nice surprise<p>I spent 3 days at the Tucson Bead Show. A bit short, but for my first experience, it certainly was enough. Even just the Beads part of the fair is enormous, and much to see. This is just one of the tent near the highway, by no means part of the main shows. </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-B-sVAH19TEs/URfZamHARkI/AAAAAAAADQk/IbRiQM7tUqM/s1600-h/CIMG6913%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="CIMG6913" border="0" alt="CIMG6913" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-S-b6OJDKUZM/URfZbKFfiVI/AAAAAAAADQs/CO6A_sd8SyM/CIMG6913_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="414" height="315" /></a></p> <p>I replenished my stash for the coming year, and scored some beauties. I found these lovely Czech glass buttons. An experiment. </p> Socrateshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04652944608123920955noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6245041666963094331.post-65477835413484993412013-02-01T07:47:00.001-08:002013-02-01T07:59:04.996-08:00Winner of blog giveaway<p>This blog hop and give away has been an amazing experience for me, and I am thrilled and humbled by your kind comments and compliments on my art. </p> <p>THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much for taking the time to come over and visit and leave a comment. </p> <p>Thank you so much to my new followers and new friends! I’ve posted the first part <a href="http://alteredmeditations.blogspot.com/2013/01/beautiful-people-and-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a>, on how to print your own images on fabric. I have also been busy putting together a <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/121420196/lace-fabric-page-kit" target="_blank">kit for the lace pages</a>, so you can follow along with your own, just as in the tutorial. You can find it <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/121420196/lace-fabric-page-kit" target="_blank">here</a>. I will be making more in the next few days, and preparing the next step of the tutorial: transferring laser copies to fabric.</p> <p>The lace book kit contains everything you need to make your own lace page, all ready for you to put it together. It’s an easy way to practice on your first page.</p> <p><img style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto" alt="Lace fabric page kit" src="https://img0.etsystatic.com/013/0/6343955/il_570xN.419385320_2yrl.jpg" width="327" height="490" /></p> <p><img alt="Lace fabric page kit" src="https://img0.etsystatic.com/013/0/6343955/il_570xN.419385416_98uh.jpg" width="570" /></p> <p>I WILL continue to do a monthly give away, so be sure to come back and enter your name. </p> <p>Thank you to everyone who visited. Koinkidenkilly, I saw a beautiful Prima kit at a weekend conference, prepared for a class by Finnabair. I didn’t take the class or attend the conference, but I sure got my hands on this gorgeous Prima Sunrise Sunset kit. <br />
Not even released yet! I hope they do soon, because Im going into serious withdrawal. Are you reading this, Prima?????<br />
The kit gave some explanations on how to achieve ‘the look’. I can’t claim that I have, but I had so much fun making the covers for my book:<br />

The Prima kit comes with all the metal flowers, and the fabric flowers. It also has the grunge board letters, the metal wheels, and lots of dooh dahs!!!<br />
LOVE!<br />
<br />
I didn’t take any pictures of the inside, because I forgot! Here’s the main heroine, MS Magdalena Orgenloff. Dressed for her journeys and adventures around the world. A little montage in Photoshop. Her various parts come from a kit on DeviantScrap from Brimm-steamtown-celebrations. Fun!<br />

Oh, valid point, Kathy, I didn't describe the process. I painted the
background with white gesso, because it was cardboard. Then I glued down
cardboard pieces, cheesecloth, and with the gel medium I was using, I
also make some marks and designs. Then I used spray glimmer mists from
'outsidethemargins.com' since I've had good luck with their sprayers. I
also added some titan buff and gold paint, and van dyke brown for edging
the sides. Voila! All about this famous tailoring studio, which appears in Paris after the intervention of another RR player! Thanks Sue. <br />
In my pages, the Sheik of Arabia comes to the studio, meets Auntie Rosa, falls in love with her, and marries her. <br />
Not until he orders her wedding gown to be made by the studio. Hence the introduction of ARABesques, and damasks in Paris, which became all the rage at in the 19th century. <br />
This is how she became the Rosa of Cairo.<br />

The scroll ‘holder’ has a story. I was browsing on the internet to find some arabic text. And I saw this scroll holder which just triggered my mind. Yesterday, a wonderful neighbor gave me a bag of goodies. You know, broken jewelry, unloved scarves and earrings. And this outrageous pen. We both looked at each other, wondering what I could possibly do with it. <br />
Well, not 24 hours later, this wonderful pen has become a jewelled scroll holder! Don’t you just love synchronicity?<br />

You ladies rock! I am so happy that you find pleasure in what you saw. <br />
And thank you to all the glorious women who became followers. I can’t wait to get to know you. I’ve made many wonderful friends online already. What a great way to connect!<br />
It’s my pleasure to announce that I’m launching a lace kit so you can make one of the fabric lace pages like this one:<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-p-3ddnsWtx0/UQAak6nGQ4I/AAAAAAAADLg/l-4DlAfEaBk/s1600-h/IMG_0894%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_0894" border="0" height="355" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Hemp4Y8Eg8c/UQAaltjTMBI/AAAAAAAADLo/2NbBLp4JS9g/IMG_0894_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_0894" width="236" /></a><br />
The kit will contain everything that is needed: a choice of two images printed on fabric, the doillies, a piece of antique lace from my private collection, vintage buttons, a piece of jewelry, everything. Just go to my <a href="http://www.socratesartworks.etsy.com/" target="_blank">store</a> to get a complete kit. <br />
It will work along with the tutorial that I post on this blog. <br />
And since so many of you are interested in the tutorial, let’s start TODAY!!!!!<br />
The first thing you need for your fabric collage is a <b>great image on fabric</b>. Yes, you need lace and more lace, but if your image is not right, your collage will not be stunning.<br />
<br />
There are many ways to get a good image on fabric. The fastest and most expensive way is to buy your fabric ready to go from brands like Jacquard, Claudine Hellmuth, Fredrix. You just Google them and you will have an infinite choice of material, such as canvas, cotton, silk, organdy. And a choice of prices too. These are ready to run through your printer, either laser or inkjet. You can find most brands at Michaels or Joann’s, and most definitely online, Amazon being a quick source. <br />
The next method which I like to use, gives great results, and is inexpensive, is to create my own fabric sheets ready for the printer. That way, I have the choice of the materials and fabrics I’ll use. <br />
You need some freezer paper and an iron. Any old brand of freezer paper will do. <b>Freezer paper is found in most grocery stores in the same aisle as foil, plastic wrap, etc. Make sure it says FREEZER paper. Do not use wax paper, it’s not the same thing and wax paper won’t work.</b><br />
It’s best if your fabric is ready to go. By that, I mean have it coffee or tea stained already, and ironed flat. <br />
Take a long sheet of the freezer paper, and with the glossy side up, iron your fabric on the glossy paper. The glossy is a very mild type of wax that will bond your fabric to the freezer paper. <br />
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zRNu7xVgApE/TpxeHRQshJI/AAAAAAAAB0g/80HfzllSHzs/s320/IMG_4896.JPG" style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="320" /><br />
You can even buy your freezer sheets already cut to 8.5 x 11. These are $8.95 for 30 sheets. <br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Freezer Paper Sheets" height="225" src="http://quiltbug.com/images/freezer-paper-sheets.jpg" title="" width="89" /></div>
If you have not bought precut freezer sheets, then take a blank sheet of printer paper, and place it on your freezer/fabric. Cut around the freezer paper, although slightly smaller than the freezer paper is better. Make sure there are no stray bits of threads that could get caught in your printer. <br />
Voila. All you have to do now is run your freezer/fabric through your printer as you would with paper. Select an image that has good contrast. You can manipulate your image in any free image processor online, to make sure it has good contrast. <br />
Some printers will have a setting for printing on fabric. My HP does. <br />
Then print. Once the freezer/fabric comes out, gives it a minute for the ink to dry, then peel the fabric from the freezer paper. Your image is now ready to sew onto the fabric collage. <br />
Sometimes, you’ll find that the ink is still a bit faint. Golden make a great product, that of course, being Golden, is not cheap! <img alt="Sad smile" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-sadsmile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Tb4a_zAzWS4/UQAamZe2B6I/AAAAAAAADLw/liQN80cC0Fg/wlEmoticon-sadsmile%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none;" />( <br />
<div align="center">
<img height="213" src="http://www.goldenpaints.com/images/DMM/DigitalGrnd.jpg" width="200" /></div>
They are a product designed specifically for printing on unusual surfaces. You apply a coat all in one direction. Let it dry. Then apply a second coat going against the previous direction. Let dry. Then you end up with the same fabric you could have paid a fortune for at the art store. It definitely makes a difference, even if you only apply one coat. <br />
Here is a pretty lady that is free for you to use in your fabric collage. Do come back for the next step of making your collage: preparing your fabrics. In the meantime, go through your stash and start pulling pretty fabrics. Or go to my <a href="http://www.socratesartworks.etsy.com/" target="_blank">store</a> to get a complete kit. <br />

At the moment, I’m putting together a tutorial on how I make these fabric collages. It will be available in the next week, so come back to find out. <br />
And in honor of your visit, I created a vintage Paris journal, just for you. You don’t have to become of follower, although I’d love you to, so we can meet again. All you need do is leave a comment on this post.<br />
On Feb 1, all of the members of the blog hop will have their draw. I will pick a name at random from the comments list and one of you will receive this vintage Paris journal. Here it is, full of old laces which I buy on Ebay or find at garage sales. There are doilies, mattress ticking, pieces of old jewelry, and plenty of painted and white pages inside for you to keep notes and records, or add photos:<br />
