Paintings with new techniques

I’ve been inspired by a wonderful book I just found at the library, Maxine Masterfield’s “Paint The Spirit of Nature”. She uses acrylic inks, which are so vibrant, and combines them on thick watercolor paper.

Here are my results for the weekend. I don’t usually paint landscapes, and I can’t say that these started out as such, but this is what some of them look like.

  2. Wow. These are beautiful. Vibrant. The last one is my favorite, but I love the ones that look like tree branches too. Super cool.

  4. I've never used acrylic ink for anything, but it looks like a fascinating medium. I love what you are doing with it.

  6. I agree with Arlene. This series is different from your previous pieces. I still see an oyster (or maybe a giant clam) in the first one. Though I really don't know much about abstract painting, I like this series because I can "see" something in just about all of them. I think the second one is my favorite.

  7. I'm liking these much more than some of your past work. I see so many things in these...people, sunsets, tornados, aquariums...you are really on to something.
