Composition

I’ve been studying composition, and making collages to that end. I work with the Golden Mean, outlining it.

The first two are painted on canvas boards, 16x20. The last one is canvas, 18x24

This last one just doesn’t work. Not sure why. I should try it upside down.

  5. Nice! I like them all, including the last one. Although that black diagonal is a bit distracting... I do see the dog, lol.

  6. I like all three of them! I think the last one works, too. It feels ok to me. Perhaps it might need more details in the gold paint section. But then again, I like it just the way it is too.

  7. Sox, you never cease to amaze me. How do you do all this? I like the third one but I tend to want to rotate it clockwise once.Makes me think of sky and sea.

  8. nice compositions, the first one is amazing, you should try to put many works of the same thematic and composition making a game of differente colors and lines :) and nice color in the second background !

  9. Well .. I may not have a trained eye, but I know what I like and I like the third one! You need to stick it up on a shelf and keep looking at it .. maybe you'll come around. It's funny that the ones we're often most critical of, are the ones that everyone else likes. Just like that dress you shove to the back of your closet cause you hate it .. then pull it out when you have nothing else to wear and get oodles of compliments on it!

  10. ooooo I like the idea of the last one hanging upside down!

If you have time and interest, I'd be honored to have you check out a little project I'm trying to get off the ground! I'd be happy to extend the mailing date if necessary.

  12. Sox with all this productivity you are going to have to have a show/sale pretty soon. Or get a big warehouse with a studio upstairs...or ? I like all of them and I do like #3 upside down. Lori from Sketchbook
