I took a night class in encaustic in Portland. Now I know that it is not my medium. Messy, very caustic and noxious fumes, and I feel that if I need the thick coat over a collage or painting, I can obtain the same effect with some heavy gel medium. Hey, that’s just me.

They turned out very nicely Sox. I especially like the bottom one. I agree with you about encaustics in general though... I wonder if the mess and fumes are worth it! There seems to be other products out there that give you the same effects. I bet you're glad that you tried it at least :-)

ReplyDeleteWell, I have to say that I love the way these look. The encaustic makes them look soft and preserved -- can you really get that with gel medium? I had no idea. I really do love these.
